The Light in the Night

Teach my wandering heart to look only at You.
You alone are the Lighthouse in oceans of blue.
Adrift and afloat in the torrent waves of night,
Sailing and rowing in belief’s singular plight.
You are relentless love on the horizon–pure light.
When the breakers drown and spill over the side,
You’re still the love within driving that roaring tide.
When the rational thought is to turn around,
Speak to the heart as thunder–love’s pure sound,
And constrain this life by love, forever to be bound.
In darkness, doubt, and secret, this life will genuflect,
And to others nearby, love’s faith and hope reflect.
May they see the Source of light Who is the Way,
And not the illuminated soul in the world, I pray.
For You alone are love’s dawn–our breaking day.
May our lives only be about perfect Love,
The kind that comes from only God, You above.
For you alone are our affections rightfully due.
You give as we need, always right on cue.
Glory, honor, and forever our love alone for You.
